Living by our value to be the best we can be extends far beyond our team’s undeniable work ethic and incredible pride in the things we achieve for our clients. It matters to us that we make a difference to the world around us, from support for mental health organisations to cutting the carbon emissions negatively impacting the planet.
So instead of telling you what we did to make 2024 a brilliant year for Hawes Construction Group, we want to tell you what we’ve been doing to make sure 2025 begins with a bang for others.
Attended the SWAG Christmas afternoon
We started the 2024 festive season at The Walrus in Brighton to raise money for an organisation close to our heart: the Southern Wellness Action Group (SWAG).
The group promotes construction sector wellbeing and mental health support and good practice in South East England. The event was planned to raise much-needed funds for the group, as well as get the Christmas spirit truly off to a great start.
Just like in the years before, we’re continuing to support SWAG as an intrinsic part of the organisation in 2025 – and, we hope, beyond. If you’d like to get involved, or if you feel you and your employees would benefit from the support the group offers, visit the SWAG website.
Raised funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Eastbourne
On Thursday 12th December, we all donned our favourite festive knits to raise money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice. Christmas Jumper Days are a great way to encourage workplaces, schools and other organisations to boost festive spirit and raise crucial funds.
Here at Hawes Construction Group, the team raised £45.15 (while showing off our finest festive jumpers!). You can see how excellent (or, silly!) we looked in our photo below.
Championed the next generation
Sarra wanted to see out 2024 doing something that truly means a great deal to her. That’s why she spent one of the last working days of December at The Lindfield School in Eastbourne doing mock student interviews.
For Sarra, supporting young people today to carve careers in construction tomorrow is important work. As the one of the school’s enterprise ambassadors, Sarra helped students experience what a real interview process may be like, offering her invaluable advice and tips.
If you’d like Sarra to speak with students at your school in 2025, please get in touch. She’s always enthusiastic to help.
Started 2025 with eco aims
Every year, thousands of Christmas trees are simply dumped, contributing hugely to gaseous waste and CO2 emissions, adding to landfill sites, and harming the environment.
To help you dispose of your trees – either real or artificial – properly, we volunteered our truck. On the 9th January, our truck collected no-longer wanted Christmas trees to make sure they can now be recycled or disposed of sustainably. Everyone who had their tree collected donated a generous amount towards St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
2025 may have just begun. But here at Hawes Construction Group, we’re hitting the ground running – with no plans to take it slowly! We can’t wait to share the things we’re doing to make a difference to both our client projects and the world around us as the year progresses.
Happy New Year – and here’s to a brilliant 2025.
