The Brief

Our brief was to deliver a full refurbishment of Dicker House, one of the boys’ common rooms at Bede’s Senior School in Upper Dicker. The aim was to revitalise the space, creating a refreshed, comfortable and functional environment for pupils to relax and socialise.

Our Solution

Our teams got to work delivering a range of improvement and refurbishment works, enhancing the appearance, functionality and overall environment of the school. The works included:

• Internal and external redecorations – refreshing walls and surfaces to create a clean, bright and welcoming environment.
• New kitchen installation – providing an upgraded kitchen space to better meet the school’s needs.
• Internal partitioning – adapting internal layouts to improve the use and functionality of the available space.
• External cladding repairs – carrying out repairs to the external wall cladding to maintain the building’s condition and appearance.
• Installation of circular acoustic baffles – introducing acoustic ceiling features to help absorb sound and reduce reverberation, improving the internal environment.
• New flooring – installing new floor finishes to enhance the appearance, durability and practicality of the spaces.
• New windows – installing new windows internally and externally

Wherever possible, the works were scheduled during the summer holidays to minimise disruption to pupils, staff and the day-to-day running of the school. This careful planning enabled our team to complete key improvements during the quieter period, helping ensure the school was ready for the return of pupils and staff.

The Result

The refurbishment successfully transformed Dicker House into a refreshed, modern and welcoming space for pupils. With improvements to the interiors, kitchen, flooring and acoustics, the project enhanced both the appearance and functionality of the common room
