Kitchen Extension, Hamsey

Project
Kitchen Extension, Hamsey

Client
Private residential client

The Brief

  • Hawes Construction Group were approached by an architect we had worked with previously, who recommended us to a private client.
  • The client needed us to complete an extension to their kitchen, at their beautiful period cottage near Lewes.
  • Their current kitchen was tiny, and the extension would much improve their living space, providing them with a much more spacious area in which they could cook and eat.

Our Solution

  • As the building was very old, we had to be sympathetic to the character of the house, and make sure the extension was in keeping with the age and style of the cottage.
  • The groundworks for the extension were already in place, so from there we constructed the entirety of the timber-frame extension.
  • Hawes Construction Group were able to use our own team of highly skilled carpenters and tradespeople to complete the project.
  • We installed oak-framed windows and bifold doors, which were in keeping with the style of the existing house, and the exterior was timber-clad.
  • A beautiful bespoke kitchen was installed, which was tailored to the client’s requirements.

The Result

  • Hawes Construction group finished the project on time and on budget, and were able to meet the client’s budget constraints.
  • The extension was almost seamless and matched the style of the original property perfectly – you would hardly know that it wasn’t built with the house!
  • The clients were thrilled with the finished result. They now had a much-improved kitchen and dining area, which was beautifully light and airy, and extremely characterful.
