The Brief

• Hawes Construction Group had first worked as a subcontractor for a main contractor at Rathfinny, installing a mezzanine area in the bottling and disgorging space. This mezzanine was to house office space, a staff kitchen and canteen, toilets, and a storage space for two trucks.
• This previous project had been completed on time, on budget, and to a high standard of excellence.
• The client was so pleased with our work that Rathfinny contacted us directly and asked us to return to do some additional works for them.

Our Solution

• One of the client’s tenets is using sustainable and local materials, so we applied ourselves to this philosophy.
• The succeeding works consisted of cladding an adjoining section adjacent to the main space of the bottling area.
• This was a steel-frame structure which needed finishing. We were then required to form an opening to allow access between this space and the bottling area, then installing a door.
• The vineyard staff were harvesting and bottling during the whole of the project, so we had to be flexible to fit around their busy schedule.

The Result

• Both projects were completed on time and on budget, to a high standard, and using local resources as much as possible.
• The wine estate now had a fully functional space to use as a transition area between bottling and storage.
• The client was very pleased with the result, and with the work of Hawes Construction Group.
