Combining safety and skill: our experience in education

Every build matters. Yet school buildings have that added layer of importance when the safety and security of young people – and their education – is the facility’s primary purpose.

Here at Hawes Construction Group, we’ve worked extensively with education providers on a huge range of projects, from extensive developments in primary schools to repair and restoration schemes in college buildings. Here are just some of the ways we meet the sector’s specific needs with every project:

Work around timetables

There’s nothing more frustrating to educators than disruption to lessons, adding to teachers’ workloads, staff scheduling and pupil disruption. So when we plan our work on your education site, we do so entirely around your needs.

Our work schedules are flexible, so we’ll schedule as much as possible within our working hours –and outside yours. Of course, there’ll be times when it’s necessary to make noise in order to do essential work. Yet we’ll always keep that to a minimum and let you know so you can plan ahead.

Put safety first

Hawes’ health and safety regulations are vital and our processes are incredibly strict. As well as sharing these with you, we’ll ask you to walk us through your safety needs. Once you’ve set out your requirements, we’ll follow them without exception.

Safety is not just about the work we’re doing, but the people we bring to your site, too. Rest assured every member of the Hawes team has had enhanced DBS checks, and we always make sure these checks are completely up to date.

Bring decades of experience

When you’re putting your education facility in the hands of someone else, you need to know you can trust them. At Hawes, our highly experienced workforce, backed by a robust specialist subcontractor team we’ve worked alongside for many years, have the skills and knowledge you need to approach your education sector project with confidence.

It’s knowledge we back up with testimonials from clients who’ve worked with us and have kindly shared case studies of the projects we’ve done together. They’re varied, from higher education facilities like University of Sussex to primary settings such as The Bilingual Primary School in Hove.

From transforming a space to make it welcoming and engaging for young people to creating new student spaces to complement historic buildings, we have a wealth of skills, plenty of experience and lots of inspiring ideas. We’d love to share those with you so, when it’s time to consider your education facility’s refurbishment, extension or renovation, get in touch with Hawes.
